Movie Review: LIMITLESS

I saw this movie on Sunday night and all I can say is WOW!!

It got decent reviews; averages of about 3 out of 4 stars, but I would have given it 6/4 without a second thought!

Why was it so good?

BRADLEY COOPER to start with, but beside the obvious:

*Unique storyline and plot (based on the book)

*AMAZING acting from all who took the screen

*Action from the first scene right down until the last.

*AMAZING direction and cinematography

I'm one of those people who gets really bored, really fast with movies, and usually (sad to say) hope for a quick ending so I can get up and leave and start doing something again. But not with this one! I was enthralled right from the get go. I actually had to go to the bathroom REALLY bad about halfway through, but COULDN'T get up because I knew I'd miss something.

I had to google the director when I was home to find out about who he was and what other masterpieces he no doubt created. He sold me with this one, and I'll be an avid Neil Burger fan from now on!

So if you haven't seen it, GO! You will love it, that's something I can almost guarantee!

Black Swan

While I've never been compelled to see a movie on a Tuesday night, I was reading rave reviews about Black Swan yesterday and found myself at the cinema buying two half price tickets straight after work .
As with other Aronofsky films I've watched; The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream, I was thoroughly enthralled and disturbed (the best kind of engagement) throughout the film, and then asked myself "why?" as the film's credits rolled at the end.
That's the thing with Aronofsky's films, (for me); they are a bit of a trade off .. there are seldom twists or thickening plots, but the imprint left on you long after you've left the cinema never fails to remind you of the extraordinary talent Aronofsky possesses.
I give it 4/5 Stars.

Tangled

Super excited to see this new Disney movie. It's been awhile since they've put out a more girly animation, and I'm all about the girly cartoons =)

I think the last girlie one was Princess and The Frog, but correct me if I'm wrong.

On Friday me and Ryan are going to go see it, and before have dinner.

I want to have a nice big tangley bowl of pasta before we go and see Tangled.

Angel Hair or Spagettini Pasta .. either will do!

Is, you guessed it - Pretty Woman!

What girl doesn't adore this movie from the minute she sees it?

Indeed, this must be one of the many reasons I fell in love with the idea of Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

I must have been only 8 years the first time I saw it - my baby sitter braught it over for me and my sis to watch, and I fell in love with the romance, clothes, and storyline.

Then I didn't see it again until a few years later, when me and my best friend rented it on one of our sleep overs. That's when I developed my crush on Richard Gere.

It's funny how girls have different preferences for guys. Some like the tatooed bad boys; for me it's always been handsome, classy buisnessman and I'm sure I have this movie to thank at least in part.

I bought the movie on VHS when I was about 13, and watched it at least once a week. I made all my friends watch it when they came over, and they grew to love it too.

Do you love this movie as much as I do?

Weekend In The Mountains

Happy Monday! I thought I would share with you some pics of me and my man on our little vacation this weekend. It was Canada Day on Thursday, so we headed to the Rocky Mountains for a couple days of hiking.





This is where we stayed. It was an old fashioned B&B; so charming!







Unfortunately it was cold and rainy the whole time, so we didn't do much hiking. Instead we stayed inside by the fireplace, drinking wine and eating good food.

They had the best traditional British food ever ...

While it poured outside, we spent a lot of time just wandering the hallways aimlessly, looking at all the weird and random British antiques.

I can't wait to buy a house with a jacuzzi .. I could live in one.

Next day we went shopping in the town site, and I of course got some bath stuff.

O'Canada Soapworks is a really good company that has great product for CHEAP. I got two packets of bath salts and this giant soft bar of soap for $15.

The nice thing was, we still had two days left of weekend after our jaunt to the Rockies before heading back to work.

Yesterday was rainy again in Calgary, and I spent the day watching movies. I watched Coraline, which I loved! I bought it at the Blockbuster bargain shelf about three months ago, but had yet to watch it. Yesterday's rainy and grey weather was perfect for the whimsical and eerie flick.

Then we watched Alice in Wonderland, but I fell asleep. It seemed like a good movie, though. After that, I did a bit of homework for a couple hours, and started reading *gasp* some of Eclipse! Yes, I put the series to rest a few months ago, but as always, when the movie comes out, my curiosity peaks and I decide to take another chance. I still find it quite boring, but seeing as how I'm over halfway done the series, I'm thinking of finishing it. I just want to get Breaking Dawn in softcover. I hate lugging around bulky hardcovers to the gym, and holding them in the bathtub; they are way too heavy! They had softcover Breaking Dawns in Mexico when I was there, and I should have gotten one. They might have them in the states, but I haven't seen any up here.

I'm glad this week is another short one for me; I'm going to the Calgary Stampede this Thursday with some friends for opening night, so it should be fun!

After this last weekend though, I'm definitely cutting back on the junk food and booze, if I keep this up, I'll be a balloon by summer's end.

L.A. Candy

I love L.C. Books!

I read the first two in less than a week.

I picked up L.A. Candy at a drugstore one day out of boredom, expecting it to be mediocre at best. A few chapters later my mind had completely changed! LC's actually a really talented writer, and her character/story development are impressive for a young lady "dabbling" in novel writing!.

I baught Sweet Little Lies the day after I finished the first book, and liked it even more!

I can't wait for the third book=), but I have no idea when it's coming out. My guess would be summer?

All I know is it's called Sugar and Spice.

Out of all the characters, I'm most intrigued by Madison, the spoiled rich villian, even though she's evil. (Aren't we always the most enthralled with the villian?) I can't wait to see what her big secret is in the third book. Whenever I'm reading the Candy books, I can't help but equate Madison to Heidi Montag.

Apparently the Candy books got picked up for a three part movie, and I can't wait!!

Speaking of movies I can't wait to see ...
