pitha...while i bear the frustration of the doors slamming on my face in october 2005 (eb2 was current prior to that) for the sheer fact that i had an incompetent attorney during the initial days when my LC process started.....i would not go far as saying that the porters have "cheated" the system.
The law via Chintakuntla provided that a person with a bachelors degree and 5 years experience is equal to an advanced degree holder.
All the porters are doing is following the law. Its frustrating to people like you and me, but its their right. If i was in their position and the law allowed me to take advantage of a provision of this nature, I would gladly take it.

as one member mentioned I am planning to take photocopy (notarized) of my visa and I-94 and carry one copy in the car. I am sure they are not out there to capture H1b/L1 visa holders who are ilegal. They will have to search for years before they can find somebody. There are very very very few it all any of us who might be present ilegally and they very well should know that by now. The should be more concerned about those who come on B1/B2 or other visas like artists etc. These are likely to overstay but 99% of us EB people are legal and very careful to be legal always. But anyway thanks for posting, I am getting my photocopy ASAP.

When I was working in Kuwait, me and every one carry Civil ID, all the time in the wallet. If some one don't have, the police will take him to the station and allow to call his sponser to bring the documents. If the sponser is out of station, any friend can bring the documents. Color of civil ID is diffrent for Kuwaiti's and others. So police didn't question any Kuwaitis. Other nationals also into two catagories, one for the general employees, and the other is domestic visa holders. The domestic visa holders ID is diffrent color, if the police caught them any time other than friday, they will go to jail and deported. They have right to be on the road only on friday. Other days of the week, it is banned. Only allow to live in the sponsers house. I heard, in saudi, muslims have green color ID,s to distiguish between other religious members.

Please mention details of your issue since most of members here are either in the labor black hole or under EB retrogression waiting to file for I 485. If you know something and if its WIDESPREAD and affects almost all applicants, please mention it here in details. We can include that in our agenda so that we dont have to fight for those issues when we do file for 485 in the future.

First column shows the year. Second one estimates applicants for GC from India. Third (Years to Clear) one divides backlog by 10000 to estimate the number of years needed too clear that backlog, assuming 10000 visa numbers released per year. Fourth (Year cleared) adds that number to the Year column to give the year you can get your GC. Finally, assuming that AC21 added a year's worth of supply of visa numbers, a year is taken out from the final estimate.
Also dependents are not included in the calculations. Send them back.
Here is how I estimated backlogs. Backlogs for 2001 and 2002 are taken from jungalee43 posting.

Update: Thank you everyone who has contributed since July 2 when we announced the drive. Our total contributions from paypal and google are around $2,500 till now (despite having 15 k members). As you can understand this is hardly of any significance for even a small legal effort. A big lawsuit is out of question. Thus IV core will use it for IV activities to further pursue its advocacy efforts. IV encourages its members being a plaintiffs with AILF if they so desire. If you are an IV member and also a plaintiff, you can let us know for any guidance we can provide. IV will be coming up with more direction to its members soon. We will have some plan for everyone and will need participation from everyone. Please stay tuned.

I guess if you are assigned a visa number, they may put your case as pending new 140 approval. Ammendment may not take much time. So keep fingers crossed. Good Luck.
Guru, please help, my 140 is approved with my original employer who got acquired by a big fish. The Big Fish filed for a new 140 (they called it amendment I guess) and that is still pending. My priority date is Sep'05 EB2. Would I qualify to be lucky in the lottery game with this movement? Please help.

i think this move is temp...it will move back..before oct 2008!!
I think all the unused EB1 and EB2-ROW visa number trickles down to EB2 - India/China and thats the main reason for a big jump in EB2-India cut off dates.
