Generally most companies are comfortable doing a 1099 on Corp to Corp than doing a 1099 with an individual. In both cases it is 1099 and company pays $$ as agreed.
There is one major difference why companies want to do business with consulting firms rather than individuals as the perception is when doing business with a firm as opposed to individual you deal with so many people (not just one) who share the responsibilities. If for some reason things don't work with the consultant the company can request the consulting firm to provide substitute so on so forth.
Also firms are perceived financially Strong, can afford $3M+ insurance (just in case something goes wrong) while individual may not be in similar position
it is always better to go with a Consulting firm rather than going individually (Pros certainly outweigh all the cons)
If you have a GC you can incorporate your own company and work ( If you are ready to take additional headache, If not better work for a consulting firm)

There is nothing to discuss on this. Just take the cash to any national bank SBI or ICICI or UTI and ask them i want to wire trasfer to US bank account. They ask you to fill up wire trasnfer form by giving US bank accout and routing numbers. They just do it by taking some fee for wire transfer. Thats it. You will get into your US bank account in a day. Thats for sure. I did this number of times. I don't know, you guys make it complex everything, by saying NRE/NRO/RBI etc. It just damn simple, do wire transfer.
Rupee is not yet fully convertible! So if its a big amount (dont remember the upper limit) you cannot wire... The only way you can do get it is for education or medical reasons. Lookig at the way the dollar is tanking I wouldnt be surprised if the rupee becomes fully convertible sooner that initially planned!

Folks, democrats are really serious about this bill. This hearing is not at the Immigration subcommittee level instead it is at the FULL JUDICIARY COMMITTEE level. That says, they are really serious about this bill.
Also, in my previous response (quoted below), there is an audio link in which Senator Menendez clearly says something: This bill S 1085 is a pre-cursor to the comprehensive immigration reform. That means, this is like building a border, which is the pre-cursor that anti-immigrants are asking for. Anti-immigrants often argued that, before dealing with the Undocumented immigrants issue, we need to make sure the problems with the Legal immigration should be fixed and the laws should be enforced including border protection. Democrats are using that point to fix the existing problems of the legal immigration system as a pre-cursor to the CIR which will deal with the fate of the Undocumented immigrants.
So, folks even if there is no chance for the passage of CIR this year, passage of a PRE-CURSOR bill is very much possible. Now the Full Senate Committee hearing shows something - Democrats are showing the will to deal with this issue (at least at the Legal Immigration front).
Iron is getting hotter....May be it's just a matter of time to find out when we can strike.
There is so much momentum - I think, IV should join this bandwagon.

I diagree with you...Indian film Industry have very good directors, They are no way inferior to Hollywood. Firstly you can't compre them with Hollywood because they have differen audiances...Hollywood have money power so their movies are technically better, but as far as quality of movies Indian film industry is very good...It caters to all tastes. The main goal of IV is to bring an end to labor processing delay in the backlog center and I-485 retrogression. We have consistently mentioned this in all possible forums. This has been clearly mentioned on home page. And if there is anybody who has any doubt, we would request you to please call us at (281) 576-7185.
I am beginning to realize that for some people who do not want to contribute, there will always be plenty of reasons and plenty of excuses not to participate & contribute. I think these people are the ones who are actually responsible for the problems of all of us. Our problems do not originate in the slow GC process or the existing bad legislation. Our problems originate due to the people who are always looking for reasons to not participate or do anything or these people who are always looking for reasons to feel offended. And these people are sure doing a wonderful job because there will always be plenty of reasons to feel offended or not feel part of the group or not find enough motivation to feel part of the bigger community.
Asking questions or requesting a specific item in the goals is one thing. People beating the drum of transparency �. That is no big deal either. Everybody is entitled for their opinion. But people watching from the sidelines or for the people who want to include agenda as Goals of the IV or for the people putting conditions to their contributions, here is what I have to say to you. I would sincerely request you to never visit Immigration Voice or any other immigration related forum or website. You guys are the real problem because you are the once helping to foster the current system by not participating in brining the change. At the end of the day, know that you are the real culprits not the system which will be shaped by the contribution of each of us.
In last 2 weeks the contributions has really come down drastically. Everybody please note that we are running very low on the funds collection. All of us have two choices. One, contribute for this cause generously and lead the friends and acquaintances by example and tell them to do the same. Secondly, find reasons to not participate or not to contribute due to this, that or whatever �. The choice is entirely yours. But with your choice also understand whether you are being part of the solution or part of the problem. And whatever you do (including posting negative messages), I would sincerely request everybody to ask yourself one question, whether you (or your post) are strengthening or weakening this effort.
I would like to request all the members who have not yet contributed to please contribute generously. Please put your money where your mouth is. This effort or any similar effort for that matter cannot do much without the necessary funds that only come in the form of contributions from its members. And for those of us who have already contributed in the past, its time to please contribute more and help to fuel this effort.
This is not just about the life of the people who started this effort or the core/active members who have taken the initiative and responsibility. This is about all of us whether or not you feel part of it or not. It doesn�t make any difference how you feel about the situation or state of affairs. Why? Because this will be over very soon. And for the people who want to continue to ponder over this idea of whether or not they have a sense of belonging to IV, I would sincerely request you to please understand and know that by any contribution to this effort, you are strengthening your own voices. I am from India and I have worked in the USA for the last 6 years. I have immigrated to Canada with a Job 6 months back to avoid overystaying. My experience in Canada is very bad. I am a MCAD and Sun Certifitied Developer having more than 8 years experience. I am looking for a job for more than 3 months in Canada and still not able to get a job. There is lots of racism here and people are not polite. I have been regularly applying for .NET jobs and the response is very bad. Maybe because I am from India. Try avoiding Canada as much as you can.

My I485 is still pending (> 180 days filed on July27th '07). I have my renewed EAD valid for the next 2 years. I have been out of project for 4 months and my employer , who filed my GC, terminated my health coverage too. Iam using my COBRA option.
Recently, i have applied for a perm position using EAD . I explained to the client about by current status of GC. They wanted to know what they are supposed to do for it. I told them i need to 'invoke' a law called AC21.(pardon my ignorance if iam wrong) inorder to transfer my pending application.
Now the big question is, how do i initiate this whole process?
I really apreaciate all your suggestions.

(1) If you decided to change to new employer using EAD - there is nothing you need to do. Just join and work.
(2) As employer is asking what they need to do - tell them they need to provide an AC21 letter of support - you can find various formats on the web.
(3) Your new job must be in same or similar category.
(4) Call customer service to verify your address on file - also hire a personal attorney and make sure they file g 28 and have them on file too for USCIS communication
(5) Your AC21 letter may/may not reach your file depending on the service center, officer and a lot of other factors.
(6) Usually most AC21 cases go through just fine unless your ex employer requests a revoke on i 140 - in such a situation you may get an RFE, NOID or a straight denial on 485 - nothing to worry about - you can resolve all these and you will find yourself back on track.

That is not an issue You can freely go. Almost no questions about job when using AP. I used it 3 times so far. f some one randomly asks, may be you can mention that you used AC21.

Best way to get more immigrants to participate in advocacy efforts by immigrationvoice.org for legal immigration is by communicating to international student organizations of various universities around virginia, maryland, washingtondc,west virginia north and south carolina. Arranging busses for the students is not a bad idea. For every one of us getting GC is a nightmare. Though USCIS follows a system, I feel it is not correctly followed. Also I noticed that people who have filed before the PERM process are really suffering. There are people who are in EB3, waiting for more than 9-10 years, keeping hope and anxiously waiting.
I feel that we should write to USCIS to clear all the pending GC�s (EB2, EB3) filed before PERM (March 31, 2005) need to be processed before they take up any cases filed in PERM.
This will certainly make the process rational.
For every one of us getting GC is a nightmare. Though USCIS follows a system, I feel it is not correctly followed. Also I noticed that people who have filed before the PERM process are really suffering. There are people who are in EB3, waiting for more than 9-10 years, keeping hope and anxiously waiting.
