The only scenario where porting from EB3 to EB2 would help someone else in the EB3 queue is when the person who ported does not use the regular allotment of the EB3 and hence another EB3 person gets it. But then, a lot of EB3 folks get in front of other EB3s by moving to EB2 and this reduces the chance of the extra visa numbers reaching EB3. I would say porting is not good for the EB3 people staying in EB3 except a few situations.

I was not aware that EB3 were getting over regular allotment....but porting is the only way i see people getting the GC in a reasonable time-frame if you are stuck in EB3 queue :cool:

Thanks desi - AOS is what I was thinking as well but that doesn't seem to be one of the options listed when opening an account (the firm is Ameritrade - you check out their website https://wwwna.tdameritrade.com/cgi-bin/apps/IraApServlet). Guess they are just not aware of this status since it wasn't really designed to be a "status" and only recently have several people moved to AOS status given the backup for EB3 and EB2 China/ India

When I was on EAD, I called my status as "ADJUSTEE". That is not a valid status either. If you are applying for a brokerage account, you may call them to find out. But, they may ask you to fill other foreign national forms and all. I had the same problem when I was trying to open a brokerage account with TD. So, I went with Zecco.

Is there are rule governing how far in advance( before the current EAD expires) we can apply for EAD renewal? Is it ok to apply 7 months in advance?
The usual thumb rule for USCIS is 6 months in advance for any renewal or extensions.

Hi, I have 3 yrs exp. as a software engineer. I have a master's degree . In order to be qualified for EB2, which is better to be put on the job ad, BS+5 or MS+2? Based on my understanding:

BS+5: BS is believed to be qualified enough for the software engineer position. But BS+5 may not be qualified for EB2?

MS+2: Master degree is good for EB2, but wondering if the DoL thinks it is necessary for a SE position.

Could you please give me advice on this? I really appreciate that.

Thanks. SE position is for MS+2 yrs according to the new PERM and you are saying 3 yrs as SE but at the same time you want to files under EB2 with BS+5 yrs...

I am on the same boat

Here's my scenario

I Was on H1B that Sponspored my GC with Comapny A, got my I140 Approved, passed more than 180 days after 485 and even got my EAD. Currently moved to a different company B that transfered H1B.I have my EAD that is not been used till now. Can I use my EAD to work on a part-time job. If I use are there any issues with H1B with my current employer or any issues while travellling. As I no longer work with the company that sponspored GC would working on a part-time EAD with another company create any problem with the GC process.

CTS is doing gc by EB1 for some people by L1A

My company has filed for EB-1 multinational manager for me.....I was on L1A earlier. I dont think the process is as fast as some folks think......specially since for EB1 manager category I140 premium processing is not allowed......

I guess the requirement for L1A is that one should be managing a business, people and processes...... and should have been employed in managerial capacity for the same company outside US......once L1A is done (it takes 5-6 days under premium procesing).....my understanding is that it establishes a strong basis for EB1 filing

There is no AP card or an approval notice. When they send the approval notice, they mean the actual AP papers - which is a 1-page document.
They send 2 copies of that.

Like an earlier post said, you can take Infopass and/or call customer service no.
My AP was approved on April 27 and I got it in the mail on 05/03.

I am not part of the founder org. but I am just shocked at the venom you show in all your messages.

Your goals so far has been
1. Complain and rant about things.
2. Discourage people for participating in IV.
3. Trying to do a "divide-and-conquer" within IV.

IV is for all legal EB based immigration - it is very clear in the mission statement what is its goal.

Also, even if IV was as myopic as you claim, future generations of EB immigrants wll benefit simply by virtue of the fact that people currently in line will not fight with them for GC.

I have been an IV member for a long time, from the days when IV was 50 people org. One of the goals of IV has been to avoid personally maligning people, so I will refrain from that, but if you want to take up this matter, send me a PM with your email address. Apply for CP asap it takes about 6 months from the date of application to get the GC if you are current. In the meanwhile re-assess your situation and apply for the H1-B in the interim you may have a denial but the CP is still in queue and H1-B rejection has no bearing on the CP application. If and when you are alloted the number for the resident status they cannot deny your GC on any other reason but that the company was a fraud or your petition had fraudulent information. If you do not meet the conditions above then your app is in jeopardy. Hope this helps. Good Luck

I'm also a Conon user, and not so "big" a macro photographer as Gary( Sorry for the pun, ;) ), but I use the Canon 100mm macro, and I'm with you on wanting a longer macro. You have to get awfully close for good shots, and I think a little more length would work better for me.

Also, on the autofocus that Gary mentioned, I like the faster autofocus on the Canon over the Sigma, not for macro, but simply because I can use it as a "normal" 100mm f/2.8, which saves me from having to carry another 100mm lens.
