We must admit that we really like doing this. :) The original poster Endlesswait came to the site and blamed IV for not doing anything and went away without doing anything. I think Wah Wah is confused by the differences between 'retrogression' and 'backlog'. Of course, you are right that the PDs are not likely to go much further back (I think USCIS took a conservative approach after July - note they are still issuing visas to those with non-current PDs but are using the bulletin to limit incoming new filings). However, if 20 million applied in July the coming backlogs would be horrendous, even though priority dates would not necessarily need to go back further.
However, in a sense, if the backlog is perpetual, and let's say the PD never really moves forward by more than, for example, one month, in the next 10 years (I'm picking extremes to make my point) then the effective retrogression at that point would be greater than say todays.

Good luck finding one that covers you till the end AND is low on premium! The cheapest premiums are that of term insurance, and it is intended for such situations where you have taken measures to invest in other places such as real estate, equities, bonds, cash etc, AND you are not counting on earning any return on the premiums you have paid.
This insurance is plain and simple. You pay low for covering you for a certain period of time - 10, 20, 30 years.
Btw, if one is 35 years old and buys a 30 year term insurance, you are covered until the age of 65. What is your point?

Thanks for your advise and i agree with your thoughts.
I thought of leaving this company several times, but I am working in this company for 6 years and the only company I worked after coming to USA. I invested so much for this company, like working beyond work hours, working in the weekends, making up the project deadlines for the incompetitive colleagues etc. etc. and now just waiting for my Green Card. There were so many times I thought if I get my Green Card I am going to leave this moment. Years passing by and with this retrogression thing, there is very little hope of getting it soon...
The positive thing is, my direct supervisor is very nice and I can voice my opinion and she understands me and completely supports me. I am just praying god that I should keep working for her till I get the GC.
I would only say "Hang On", or move on if you can. A lot of people in same situations, never want to discuss issues openly.
Patience does help, and maybe all the good is stored for future.
Most important is how you deal with stress associated with racial slurs, difference in treatment, and all the above issues. This has direct impact on health and many people in these conditions are victims of stress.

In trying to play the "devil's advocate", you still did not answer my question. i.e. "Let me ask you a simple question. What CAN be the "perceived benefit" from a rally like this that would make you think that it would be worth attending? Is it something like a guarantee for a GC in 2 months or a bill that passes next month that does everything we legals want? What is it?"

My first reaction. You're kidding, right! Ever worked in marketing/sales?? When you go to sell your product or service, you try to sell it from the point of view of the customer. In this case, what the benefit can be from the point of view of the US govt and US economy. Yes, our primary aim is to get our GC's in a reasonable time frame. The slogans and messages are in support of these ( By the way both happen to be true).
Incidentally, even the spark in Gandhi was ignited when he personally was insulted and thrown from a train. My point being that it is only when we personally are affected by an issue that we react to it. The reaction ofcourse differs based on our own individual character, personality and other traits.

I did online MS degree and it took 3 years, although I could have completed it in 2.5 years. First year I completed only 1 course per sem, then I started doing 2 per sem. I took non-thesis option and the total cost was aprx 15K from ISU. Thye charge flat rate fee per subject ( aprx 3 credits) irrespective of residency requirements (you can actually do this course from anywhere in the world and it would cost the same) . This degree requires 30 total credits (one of them must be a project, so technically only 9 subjects/courses to take).

This is like the banana joke in an old tamil movie, it is over 157 days and the USCIS now wants to go by processing times which mention july 3rd processing date, which is still late, but then they will say it is just one day over your receipt date.
If I were planning to use my EAD now or in the near future I would just cough up $380 and apply for a fresh EAD instead of chasing USCIS.
If it works, then it is money well spent compared to running back and forth to USCIS offices, calling them daily and all the painful aggravation involved.
I will gladly spend 380 instead of risking the possiblity of picking up Diabetes or Blood pressure due to stress.

Basically they want to prevent offshoring legally... meaning
if microsoft wants job done.. hire locally.. or bring people on direct H1 so they net the taxes. or do the job overseas.
If Infosys brings people - do not let them work in CIsco, microsoft or, HP... that way they put overseas company OUT OF Business
USA needs fruit pickers not hi tec, this can be outsourced..
