Blog of Note

I'm going to start featuring a blog of note every now and then. If I visit a blog and feel particularly moved by a post I will link it here.

This post comes from Rasha. Read her moving post that inspired me here.

*******

I look at some of the troubles people have had in life, and it makes me realize how truly fortunate I have been throughout most of mine. (Thus far). How insignificant so many of the issues are that I can get caught up in.

My parents immigrated here from England before I was born, so I have never had much of an extended family.

We never had money, but we were a happy, stable (if small) unit who could depend on each other through thick and thin.

My parents raised us to treat each other with dignity and respect no matter the situation.I hold no one higher than my family. I have been so fortunate to have them in my life.

I'm so inspired by people who have faced horrible, disastrous things in their lives yet still have a positive, amazing outlook on life.

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. - Thomas Jefferson

Keep steadily before you the fact that all true success depends at last upon yourself. Theodore -T. Hunger

If you wish success in life, make perseverance your best friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother, and hope your guardian genius. - Jospeph Addison

There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second. - Logan Pearsall Smith

inspiration.

I love blogging.

I love the creativity of it. It's like a diary that I can look back on and remember certain points in time. And I love sharing it with those who are interested enough to check it out. Sometimes I will just sit at my computer and read my own blog. I adore having an outlet to share my thoughts on. It's amazing.

But I'm not all hair and make-up. I don't worship shoes and purses. For me, beauty/fashion blogging is a hobby, an inspiration that I craft my posts around. I have to say, since leaning more towards the material with my posts, I haven't hit many dry spots at all. Every blogger can tell you - we hit dry spots. We go for weeks, sometimes months without being inspired enough to even type hello into the title bar. And that's not what a hobby is about. A hobby is something you look forward to. I look forward to writing, to picking out great pictures to post, and to reading all of the other great blogs out there. I love feeling free enough that I can post and write about what I want, without fear of being judged. Fear of being mistaken for a shallow girl who knows nothing other than the latest styles of makeup or shoes. There's a deeper side. I just don't always show it on here. Life has it's place for somberness and stress. I want to create a candy world of beaty and softness on the computer screen. A makeshift escape, if you will.

I want more people to start blogging, and to feel free to share their true colors with the world as well. I want more people to feel inspired by life, so inspired that they need to get it written down or captured somehow.

Whatever you're inspired by - beauty, fashion, animals, food, cars, music, art, photography; share it with the world. It doesn't have to be profound. It doesn't have to be brilliant. What matters is you have fun doing it. It's a piece of you. If not for anyone else, for yourself.

The DRESS

After trolling bridal mags, websites, and various facebook pages, I finally came across a dress that took my breath away. I think wedding dresses are very personal; what one girl loves, another will hate. For me, this dress is IT.
I quickly hunted a shop down that carried this designer and, I'm going to try it on this weekend with my mom and sis=) I can't wait.
I hope it looks the same in real life as it does in the pic.

Hello Kitty

My chubby, grumpy, BB Cat =)

She's often grumpy (not like my other one). If you pet her too long, she'll snap at your fingers, but I love the way she chirps like a bird and her obsession with drinking water from a glass.

She climbs up on my bed to cuddle when she thinks I'm asleep and won't know she's been there.
Have any animals yourself?

Bridal Registries Dance In {Kimmy's} Head!

If any of you are familiar with the Shopoholic series, you'll know who that line was originally written about - Ms. Becky Bloomwood, the shopping obsessed Bride-to-Be ...

So many hilarious parts in this book.. I've been reading it non-stop lately because ...

I have FINALLY gotten into the spirit of planning my wedding!

I first blogged this whole marriage biz here, where I described to you all my fairytale engagement story=)

Well, since then, things slowed down ... a lot. For some reason I had NO desire to plan the wedding.

Well, I did, but not really.

I decided on a 15 person destination wedding to the Caribbean, because I thought "I'm not going to be one of those nutso girls who goes ballistic over their wedding; with visions of horse drawn carriages, Vera Wang dresses, and crystal ballrooms."

My plan was to spend $5000, tops.

But then the other day, something snapped !!!

If I am going to make this the best day of my life, I may as well do it right! I want the full bridal party, tent, DRESS and tradition!!!

So I've basically turned into one of those wedding crazed girls with stars in their eyes that I promised myself I would never be.

You only live once right?

Of course I've been snatching up bridal mags like nobodies business...

{ Bought these two glossies on my lunch today }

And AHHHHH!!! The DRESSSS!!!!!

I want to sketch my dream dress out, even though I can't sew.

{Still anti-Twilight .. just like this sketch}

*****
Me and my fiance are meeting with a wedding planner next Thursday and I can't wait to start talking about color schemes, themes, and everything else that will make our day perfect =)

She's planned celebrity weddings and did an AMAZING job of planning my friend Andrea's wedding so I'm super excited!!!

Pearl Necklace - gift from my love hand made by his mother =)

I am lusting after black rosarys right now.(I'm not religious). I think a long black rosary would have set this outfit off perfectly. Oh well, for now the pearls will do ;)

Do any of you have a rosary?

Not looking forward to the week starting up again. :*(. I've been kind of slacking with my school assignments lately, so tomorrow it's back to the grind. Have to get ready for exams on the 30th:(. Oh well, it's still Sunday right now, and right now I'm going to sit back and enjoy the few hours left of the weekend I have=)

Thanks for reading =)

Every Girl Wants A Giant PINK Blush Brush =)

Hola, Muñecas!

So this is another shopping/beauty post for you =)

First, the incredibly girly & fabulous giant pink blush brush from F21.

4.50 CDN

Lets be honest, I probably won't use it much, but what make-up collection could go without one of these? For $4.50, it can just live on my vanity and look pretty =)Mini Sephora Haul:I didn't want to get too crazy with their 15% sale, (trying to keep my shopping in check) so I only got a couple things. I wanted to try a new bronzer, and my friend Robin that works there said the Sephora one was actually pretty good. So I picked it up along with some highlighting blush, baby pink lip liner, and a sharpener - everything Sephora brand lol.

I LOVED the Bronzer and highlighter, and they're probably the cheapest types in the whole store.

And last but not least, some new sky high heels from Bebe. I love 70% off sales!
My guess is they are at least 5 inches. I can barely walk in them, but they're an elegant addition to the growing shoe collection =)

*Did you spot the friendly kitty in two of my pictures?*

Hope you are having a great weekend =)

Mid Week Treats

Hello, Dollies =)

Last night I decided to skip the gym and instead do a little shopping.

Look what I picked up for $10!!

A Stila Lip Envy Lip Gloss Trio. I'm wearing the far right shade in the top pic=)

For some strange reason though, none of the glosses came with names, or even numbers for that matter!! And believe me, I looked, many times! So I'm not sure how to describe them to you other than with some lip swatches:

The first one was really natural, almost sheer, with just a tiny bit of sparkle. I wasn't over the moon about it, but maybe for a day when I need a quick pick me up when stepping out to the grocery store.

This one was my fave=) It's such a nice vivid hot pink .. Great when wanting to make a statement =)

I liked this one as well. It was a lot paler, but it would be great to pair with dark eyes. I layered it on over a Nars baby pink lipstick, otherwise it would be a lot sheerer.

{Poser}

BUT I saved the best for last ..

I've been Crazy for DAISY ever since I first posted about it here, but was always a little hesitant on adding it to the collection (perfume is my weakness) due to the price of it.

Well that all changed last night!!

I got an amazing deal .. a beautiful bottle, hand cream and shower gel for $59.99!!Sometimes it really does pay off to be patient =)

My own fresh picked Daisy bouquet =)

Today is also my Friday!

Can't wait for the weekend to start!!Me and my man are going out for dinner to celebrate some of his work stuff tonight.

Tomorrow I'm taking my Sephora Coupon (that everyone's so excited about) and getting some nice new goodies. Too bad it's only 15%, but better than nothing, right?

Hope You Have A Great Weekend =)
