I think there are plenty of people who always planned to go back .. the GC /USC was just a career advancement tool for these people. In fact, a survey of US returnees to India after 2000 shows that the majority (around 60%) were USCs/ GC holders, which is clearly an indication that the relocation was by choice rather than any immigration issues.
There are many factors which make the adjustment/re-starting issues bearable : In many cases, the country you will go back to will be a much improved place from the one you left.Besides, many of us immigrated not because we were desperate to get out of our home country; but rather because at that particular point in our careers going abroad was the best way forward. After close to decade's worth of experience in USA, many find that the best way forward now is to go back to your home country .. thats becoming more and more common with globalization. And finally, many of us have family issues like taking care of aged parents which either makes the re-location inevitable or in some cases may coincide with career goals.
Personally, i think returning to one's home country solely because of retrogression is not advisable and has the potential to cause lots of frustration and disappointment.
I just wanted to get this discussion back on track of ppl wanting to be able rise up a little, let their wives work and feel the freedom to make a decision to go back.
Let me restart the discussion. I know we are all frustrated to the extent that we want to pack up and leave but we have invested too much time to do that. But let's assume things start moving and we get our GC's in a year or so. Having spent so many years waiting to "settle" would you be willing to unsettle your life again and start over in a country that you left more than a decade ago.
Note that I am not doubting anyone's intention or disrespecting any entry. Just wondering if its the frustation talking or there are ppl who would actually leave?

How the hell can all the catagories after EB3 be current yet EB3 be back logged???? By rights they should be unavilable until we are current.
This is just so unfair.
i can not put in to words just how anoyed i am right now.
It really should not have been a surprise to anyone.

Please do not misinterpret IV.
If tomorrow there is a bill to stop all H1B from coming to USA or to make life difficult for H1B, do you really think we will keep quiet just because we have filed our greencards?
Do you know IV worked hard for decoupling of H4 time from H1 in 2006 and we thought nothing may happen and started to focus on next action item. Then few months later it was changed. That was the first small step.
I would appreciate if you ask your spouse if she/he can volunteer time for IV. You both can get more involved. Send us an email if you are interested. We are always interested in people who can volunteer more time than us (We do full time jobs too. A couple of us also are enrolled in a part time degree program). We are willing to have such an H4 be a leader in IV.
IV is a platform that will allow you voice your plight. But you will need to come forward and be willing to actively work on it with others. If the strategy is right, you are committed and have right intentions there is no reason why IV will not help.

"Retrogression" is the word for the rest of the year for EB3 (I). Learn it, Leave it (eat it, sleep it, drink it - whichever way you want it).
How about Dec. 2000 EB3-I for incoming bulletin? Then "Retrogression at will" as we move forward for the rest of the year. Now don't ask me how because anything is possible with (fill in the blanks).

whole life has surrender charges apart from hefty financial charges ,so you can not withdraw when you want.
I think you got into a wrong kind of policy. You have to ask these questions with agent before taking it.

Do you know if one is better than the others...like murthy is better than rajeev khanna .....Basically who has more experience and success handling AC21 and MTR cases...I spoke to one of the murthy attorneys and they seemed to be good... but again I donot have any personal experience... From now onwards visa dates will be stable. I mean little or big but most of time forward jump .. Not a big swing that we saw for couple of years.

My current H1 is expiring soon. My 3 year H1 extension is pending. I had receipt notice but NJ DMV at Wayne refused to accept that. My current License is valid only till the middle of the next month.
Any body in the same boat? What shall I do?
My friend was in a similar situation last yr, He took his all his documents to Trenton DMV and they have given him 90 days extension.

Thank you WaldenPOd. I am a pharmacist and I am always extremely bz with my work and two kids. but my wife is actively participating in this effort. She has already posted flyers in Indian store and restaurant. I will ask her to post it in Chinese and other store.
She is actively sending email to friends and relatives to join IV. Also, we are planing to visit universities around our area during this weekend and post flyers

This favours temporary workers on H1, L1 etc. An H1/L1 spouse can move to the US easily, but not that of a GC holder. If you want to bring out this "discrimination", that would mean to discontinue H4 visas, as seeminlgly it is a discrimination against a GC holder. Is that you are looking for?
EB3 discrimination is quite blatant. Folks with a date of March 2004 should be automatically considered EB2 based on five year experience. This is not just for EB3-I or EB2-I but for all chargeabilities.

I don't think you're following it too closely.. every year it creeps up a few early 2005 months, becomes unavailable the last quarter then in October jumps back to late 2003
