Foundation Talk

I love the first few days when I've just baught a fresh foundation. I use MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in N5, and have been for over 5 years. It's the best foudation I've ever tried!
I think there are a lot of high end department store makeup products that are just not worth the price, but foundation is one thing I can never get from the drug store .. skin always has to look tip top ;)

Photobucket

^Here is my brand new fresh foundation =) Kind of like the feeling of fresh washed sheets, it can't be beat!

Photobucket

Here are all my old foundation compacts that I'm waiting to take in to MAC for their Back to Mac program. Hopefully I'll have a couple old lipstick containers I can use as well somehwere to get it sooner!

What they look like on the inside!

Photobucket

Ew! Not looking so great. As you can see, I lay the compacts down the rest about the same time each batch. I hate trying to scrape out the last remnents of old foundation. I was curious to see how much powder these four almost empty compacts would produce, so I scraped out the rest with a butter knife onto a plate:

Photobucket

et Voila: a heavy duty loose face powder you can dust across shiny places in a pinch. Make sure the foundation isn't TOO old before you scrape though, as you don't want bacteria to grow. A tiny amount of rubbing alcohol can serve as a disinfectant.

ALSO

I was on the hunt for an eyeshadow primer. I've seen the Urban Decay one and of couse heard about how amazing it is, but (surprise!) I've actually been trying to curb my makeup shopping and wanted to find an affordable alternative. Well they didn't have any in the drug store, so lo and behold I somehow ended up at MAC and spent more on this Paint than the Urban Decay one actually is =P Apparently it's an amazing primer, I've read so many great reviews on it. I will do a review shortly, but here it is: (Bare Canvas)

And here is a mini review on the latest polish I purchased - NYC Mulberry Street:
Photobucket
NYC Nail Polish is probably the cheapest you can find. I believe this one was $2! .. And boy did it show. I LOVE the sheer "almost there" color of it, but unfortunately it was chipping within hours (literally eating itself off my nails right before my eyes) and it went on like SHYTE. So ladies, I wouldn't recomend, but for a $2 polish, you don't need me to tell you that! (Then again, Rimmel's 60 Second Polish is under $4, and it's my fave ever!)

Hope you have a great weekend!

FOTD - Crazy For Coral

Photobucket {Rimmel Coral Queen/MAC Strange Potion/MAC Bite of Apple}

The above pic includes the coral pigmetned products I used to create this Face of The Day.
I have never worn coral before, and usually shy away from anything orangey or brown.
But the other day I was paging through a mag and got inspired:

So I looked high and low through my make-up collection in search of a "Bambi-brown" shadow that would give me the look Carminody spoke of so highly.
Finally I came across two shades in this Claire's pallete that seemed to do the trick:

{Lighter shade on lid, darker shade in crease}

I have to say that I love Claire's shadows/blushes, because they are very pigmented and high quality, but so cheap! When I bought this the shop girl informed me that Claire's makeup is manufactured by the same company that does Sephora make-up. You might want to research this more before taking my word for it, but I wouldn't be surprised..

My Eyes:

I then used the Bite of Apple coral blush on the apples of my cheeks:

....... et voila! :

Tell me what you think of coral make-up.

MAC Venomous Villains Mini Haul - I Just Couldn't Wait!

Bonjour Poupees!

I went to check out the new wing of Chinook Centre today, and on the way passed by MAC. They had their Venomous Villains display in the window, and I was pulled in to have a lookie.

I know I ordered online and my villain goodies should be here any day now, but I just couldn't resist getting a couple more of the pieces today! Instant gratification has always been a weakness of mine =P

What I got:

Evil Queen Strange Potion Lipglass:

Photobucket
A gorgeous peachy coral gloss!! I love the Evil Queen packaging the most in this collection =)

Photobucket
Evil Queen Bite of Apple blush :

Photobucket A beautiful coral pink to match the gloss. It's the brightest blush in the collection.

I'm a total classic Disney movie lover. I will take vintage Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella over the new Pixar stuff any day. And the best characters, the ones who make the movie? Always the villians. I played the Evil Queen from Snow White in a school play once too, so I'm extra excited, teehee.
It's available in US Sept. 30
Internationally October.
Here are the ones I'm after:
Bad Fairy Nail Lacquer:
Evil Queen Toxic Tale coral lipstick (satin):

There are some reallllly nice blushes in this collection too.

Over all I am just over joyed at this Collector's Edition of make-up!

Beauty Haulage

Photobucket

!HALLO!

Thought I would share with you some of my most recent beautifying purchases. Some high end, some low end, but all great.

NYC Blushable Creme Stick Plaza Pink:

Photobucket
Love this .. it's not too heavy but still nicely pigmented and super easy to blend. Also only $3.99usd
Photobucket Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish - Frisky Clover:
Wow, I can't believe a nail polish so cheap can go on this precisely. It has a precision brush that actually makes the application about 100 times easier. I didn't use a base or top coat, so it did chip fairly soon, but I really didn't care. And, yes, it really does dry that fast.

Photobucket
Wet'nWild ColorIcon Trio Palette in Knock On Wood:

Photobucket

Photobucket Love, Love, LOVE this. The only thing I can say is put on the base, crease, and browbone color Before your concealer and foundation as with the cheaper quality shadows (and some high quality ones for that matter), it does have a lot of fallout, especially with the crease. I loved the way it looked though. The browny complemented my hazel eyes nicely. Here is the finished look with this shadow palette and above blush:

Photobucket
Victoria's Secret Lipstick in WISH:
Photobucket
Sorry for the crappy quality pic of the lipstick above, but the below one is the EXACT shade of the lipstick and it's my new fave pink. The VS lipsticks don't have quite the same longevity as a MAC but I still love this one.
Photobucket

NARS Blush in Desire:
Photobucket
It's a super hot bright pink .. a little brighter than I would have liked, but if I blend it a lot it's good =)
Photobucket
Here it is in comparison to NARS Super Orgasm, to give you an idea of just how bright it is:
Photobucket
GUESS by Marciano Perfume:

Photobucket OMG I LOVE THIS IT SMELLS SO GOOD. New fave scent.

Kim Kardashian Glamour Tan:
Photobucket
I want to do a full review on this soon! I've only used it once but it seems pretty good, albeit hard to tell because I had already gotten some sun from the trip. It's cheaper than CLARINS though, and you get more in it=)
Hope you enjoyed my little show and tell.
Have you tried any of these?!?!
What do you think of them?!?!?!

My Pink Lipstick Collection

What do these lipsticks have in common with eachother?

Photobucket

They are all pink!!!

(In case you haven't noticed, pink is my favorite color - for lipsticks that is)

Photobucket
^same left to right for top and bottom photo:

Photobucket

My faves out of these are the Pink Neaveau and Gaga. Saint Germain and Pink Lingerie are nice, but they are a little too pale and wash me out. (I have quite fair skin)

Have you tried any of these?
What are your fave pink lipsticks? Or do you prefer a different color family all together?
(Sorry for my goofy earlier post. I started working on this post and hit publish instead of save before finishing tee hee.)
