Foundation Talk

I love the first few days when I've just baught a fresh foundation. I use MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in N5, and have been for over 5 years. It's the best foudation I've ever tried!
I think there are a lot of high end department store makeup products that are just not worth the price, but foundation is one thing I can never get from the drug store .. skin always has to look tip top ;)

Photobucket

^Here is my brand new fresh foundation =) Kind of like the feeling of fresh washed sheets, it can't be beat!

Photobucket

Here are all my old foundation compacts that I'm waiting to take in to MAC for their Back to Mac program. Hopefully I'll have a couple old lipstick containers I can use as well somehwere to get it sooner!

What they look like on the inside!

Photobucket

Ew! Not looking so great. As you can see, I lay the compacts down the rest about the same time each batch. I hate trying to scrape out the last remnents of old foundation. I was curious to see how much powder these four almost empty compacts would produce, so I scraped out the rest with a butter knife onto a plate:

Photobucket

et Voila: a heavy duty loose face powder you can dust across shiny places in a pinch. Make sure the foundation isn't TOO old before you scrape though, as you don't want bacteria to grow. A tiny amount of rubbing alcohol can serve as a disinfectant.

ALSO

I was on the hunt for an eyeshadow primer. I've seen the Urban Decay one and of couse heard about how amazing it is, but (surprise!) I've actually been trying to curb my makeup shopping and wanted to find an affordable alternative. Well they didn't have any in the drug store, so lo and behold I somehow ended up at MAC and spent more on this Paint than the Urban Decay one actually is =P Apparently it's an amazing primer, I've read so many great reviews on it. I will do a review shortly, but here it is: (Bare Canvas)

And here is a mini review on the latest polish I purchased - NYC Mulberry Street:
Photobucket
NYC Nail Polish is probably the cheapest you can find. I believe this one was $2! .. And boy did it show. I LOVE the sheer "almost there" color of it, but unfortunately it was chipping within hours (literally eating itself off my nails right before my eyes) and it went on like SHYTE. So ladies, I wouldn't recomend, but for a $2 polish, you don't need me to tell you that! (Then again, Rimmel's 60 Second Polish is under $4, and it's my fave ever!)

Hope you have a great weekend!

NAIL POLISH REVIEW - Rimmel 60 Second Portobello Pink

Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish in Portobello Pink

Kind of a funny name .. when I hear Portobello, I automatically think of giant mushrooms. But apparently it is also the name of a railway station in Scotland, and also the title of a book by Ruth Rendall.

Anyways .....

I love finding a beauty product that stands out from the pack, I'm sure you'll agree it's rare!

Rimmel's 60 Second Polish won me over the minute I first tried it this summer.

It has an amazing applicator that makes the polish go on seamlessly, the consistancy of the polish is perfect, and (best of all) it dries in a minute and doesn't chip!

I definitely want evey color in this collection.

This product gets 5/5 stars from me!

Lipstick, Polish, And Bronzer! (Swatch Heavy)

Hello, Dolls!!!

Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend.
I've had a nice laid back weekend.
Saw Inception today and holy crap is all I can say!!! It's a total mind bender and I think I will have to see it again to get a full grasp .. Leo was stunning as always!!! I loved his hair in the movie, he looked so chic and hot .. Ryan is growing his hair out like that, and I love it!!!

Anywhooo .... after the movie I went to drop off a prescription and walked around the drug store while I waited. As always, I picked up a few goodies.

Rimmel Lipstick in Coral Queen

Photobucket

I'm REALLY liking this cheapie lipstick, especially considering that corals usually look like crap on me. This is a bit more vibrant, and perfect for summer. I doubt it will ever be a daily go to for me, but good for summer vacations and exotic trips =)

GOSH Giant Sun Powder

The name is pretty simple and self explanatory for this one shade fits all, giant plat of bronzing powder. It is super silky, and very buildable. It has a delicious sheen to it, and again, great for summer nights.

REVLON Top Speed Polish - Lily

Photobucket

I'm so happy at recently discovering these candy colored Revlon polishes last week. They dry within minutes (five minutes tops) and the pastel colors are to die for. I've already bought four since coming across them. I would recomend at least a top coat in order to avoid chipping, as these do tend to chip fasster than Essie or OPI.

Here is Peachy (last week's polish) on my nails:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've been relaxing all weekend, and it's felt great. Tomorrow is a Canadian holiday too, (yay!) so more sleeping in =) Will have to do a bit of school work though, and maybe get myself to the gym.
Bye Bye For Now!

Weekend Fun

Hallo!!!

This past weekend my super good friend Andies invited me to Auburn Bay Lake (where she lives) for some fun in the sun.

Unfotunately, I didn't get any good pics of me and Andies :( ... next time.

{Jaded/Peachy}

I recently got some summery polishes from Revlon. I love them! They go on great; not as good as Essie of course, but still good. They are fast drying as well and within five minutes of applying, my nails are completely dry. They are a bit faster at chipping, but that's because I didn't use a base or top coat. I imagine a base and top coat to take away from the fast drying, and the drying time was my main point when buying these.

Here is Jaded on my nails - a super pretty pastel turqouise. I can't wait to get some more of the Revlon colors.

Winners Bargains - Polish and Perfume!

Hallo!!

Thought I would share with you a couple of the bargains I picked up from Winners.
ESSIE polish in "Exposure" for $5.99 > Regular $11.99.Love this pink. Here it is on my thumb ^I was pa rousing the perfume shelves and came across a peculiar green box that looked like it would have soap in it. I saw the "eau de parfum" however and wondered how on earth a perfume bottle could fit in it. I checked the price tag, and @ $7.99, I thought I would find out. Isn't the bottle so cute? The perfume actually smells really nice too - VERY citrusy and fresh. It's called "Shanghai Butterfly".

Do you love bargains as much as I do?

Essie Turqouise and Caicos

I am in love with this color! It's actually the first Essie polish I've ever tried, and now I'm 100% sold on their product. This color went on seamlessly =)
I'd been on the hunt for quite awhile to find that perfect greeny blue. After a few polishes, I was almost ready to give up. The top ones, with the exception of my fave on the left, are the other blue hues I tried.
L-R Sparitual in delight; OPI Shrek Collection in What's With The Cattitude, and OPI Garangtuan Green Grape.

My Perfect Green!! I will love it forever =)

OPI "Dim Sum Plum", and a New Perfume

I really like this color, called "Dim Sum Plum" from OPI's Hong Kong collection. Ever notice how some colours go on much smoother and easier than other ones, even when they are from the same brand?

As you can see from the above pic, I bought another OPI polish, called "Gargantuan Green Grape". I was really disappointed with it! (That's why I didn't upload pics of my nails painted with the color). From the bottle, I expected it to be a lovely minty green, but it went on soooo lumpy and looked more pukey than minty. Ewww. Oh well. =)

I LOVE this Coconut Melon Creme by OPI. It smells sooo good, and is so rich. It was only $7, too.

Have you smelled this? I love it so much. It's such a nice fruity scent.

Got it from Shoppers the other day too.

And here are some pics of my two favorite boys, just for fun. Ryan and Tibbs, my friendly little kitty. He loves Ryan waaayy more than me and always cuddles with him whenever Ryan is laying down.

Yesterday was such a lazy day for me. All I did was come home, eat, watch The Bachelorette, watch True Beauty, and then fall asleep. It was nice though, because I'm so rested today. Definitely have to hit the gym tonight though.

Are any of you watching The Bachelorette this season? I wasn't too keen on Ally from last season, but I really like the choices she makes on this season. She has a great personality, too.

Thanks for reading!
