Maybelline FIT me! Liquid Foundation & Powder

Hello!
I was so happy to FINALLY come across Maybelline's new line of skin makeup. I'd searched at a few Walmarts and Shoppers, but always left disapointed when I couldn't find the line anywhere. Finally I happened upon it at the Shoppers just steps from our place, and almost jumped for joy!

The FIT me collection carries liquid foundations, powders, and concealers in three different tones - 100s, 200s, and 300s.  Within these there are three levels, 115, 125, and 135 for example.
I swatched a little bit, and my closest match appeared to be 135.
I do love the packaging, it's quite professional looking and non-drug storey, in my opinion.
I bought the liquid foundation and pressed powder in 135:

I'd heared great things so far about this line, so naturally I expected to love it ... and to be honest, I did!
I took some pics to show you how it looks.
I'm sure you'll notice I airbrush a lot of my pics - I kept these ones completely untouched so you can see what the foundation and powder looks like on my skin:

I do love it.
I used the Sigma foundation brush for the foundation, and just the powder puff that came with the powder. I don't know how long it lasted, as I washed it off sooner than I normally would with my foundation, but overall, I am definitely impresssed!
Have you tried this new line?
Let me know!

p.s. thanks for continuing to read my blog - I've officially fallen off track with my 30 day blog challenge, but this week has been HECTIC! So much schoolwork, busiest it's ever been at work, plus some other EXCITING news that I will share shortly.
Hope you are all doing well =)

Creating Bigger Eyes

We all know that putting white/shimmery eyeshadow on the inner corners of our eyes makes them appear wider apart; it's simply makeup 101! I found a little variation on this trick though, and it made my eyes appear more almond shaped and further apart - great for me especially, as I have quite deep set eyes, although they already have an almond shape to them.

Take a white eyeliner crayon and line the inner third just below your lower lashline, and your waterline with dark eyeliner. Do the same with the top lid, winging it slightly at the ends.

Lancome Haul & FOTD

Hi, Dolls!

This weekend I visited the Lancome counter to take part in there Free Gift special. Basically, if you spend $34 or more, you get a free gift valued at over one hundred dollars! Not bad, hey?

Before I visited the counter this weekend, I was a complete Lancome virgin, so I was excited to give their products a try. I completely fell in love!

Okay, so here are the things I bought in order to get the free gift:

Left: Water proof Protective Concealer in Claire II. Right: Artliner Eyeliner in Noir

I needed a new concealer and liquid eyeliner, so this worked out perfectly.

The eyeliner was $37, and the concealer $32. A little expensive, but WOW is all I can say. I LOVE both of them!

Here is a swatch of the concealer:

A tiny drop goes A LONG way, and the coverage is amazing!!

And the Artliner eyeliner:

It glides on SO SMOOTH, and is almost mistake proof! It has a sponge tip applicator which I love since the brush applicator can be a little tricky for me.

After purchasing the above items it was then time for my Free Gift =)

I got two silver Lancome makeup pouches, one large and one small. Inside were the following items:

All I can say is WOW! This is my new fave mascara!!! Super voluminzing, and able to put two coats on EACH LASH without dipping the wand again. WOW!

Here is how I looked using the Lancome concealer, eye shadow pallette, mascara, and lipstick:

Holiday Makeup and Dress!

Hello, dolls!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was fun but went by waaaay too fast.

On Saturday afternoon me and Ryan met up with my sister and some of her friends at a lounge for her bday .. Every year, Dec. 11 is the busiest day for me .. It's three of my friends bdays, my sister's bday, and both mine and Ryan's company Christmas parties. Needless to say, we can never celebrate them all, and this year we narrowed it down to my sister's celebration in the afternoon, and Ryan's work Christmas party in the evening. His is always the funnest, as his company holds it at the Rimrock Resort in Banff.

We got there with just enough time to get ready in our room before the party downstairs, and here's what my makeup looked like:Photobucket

I wanted to go with a cross between frosty/smokey, and I think I achieved the look.

And can I just say WOW about MAC Paints as an eyeshadow primer? It kicked my eyeshadow look up about 100 nothches .. I've never been happier with the finish, or how long it lasted!

Here is the outfit I wore:

Dress: Bebe

Purse: Coach

Shoes:Guess

Tights:Shoppers

Earrings:Homemade

All in all it was a fun night!

Here I am hobbling back to the room after the festivites died down.

Notice anything different?

My tights ripped - not a little bit, but a huge gash that took up most of my leg.

I swear I'm cursed when it comes to nylons.

I hope you're having a good holiday season so far.

To be honest I won't be disapointed when it's over, as over the last week I've drank enough at company parties to last me well into the new year! I'm glad this is only a 3 day work week for me .. I can really use the days off to finish my Xmas shopping, etc.
Have a great week!

ELF Beauy Book Review/Holiday Look

ELF Beauty Book Smokey Eye Edition

Hi Dolls. As previously mentioned, I decided to do a mini review on the Elf Smokey Eye Beauty Book. I'm sure you've see these Beauty Books around; there are eyes, blush, and lips ones to choose from. I purchased this book for $8.99.

Before I go any further, I must say I was in the business of turning my nose up at all ELF products before this palette. I just couldn't be bothered to give $2 eyeliner and $4 blush any serious consideration ... the cheap price point completely turned me off.

Well, was I wrong... I love this palette! I was so surprised at the pigmentation ... one swipe of my brush on the shadows produced strong opaque color.

Swatches of all the colors (no names):

^These are all one, light swish of the brush on my skin. (super pigmented)^

Here is the Holiday look I created with some of be colors. It's a look that would work well at a Christmas party, or for NYE. Smokey with silvers:

And the colors I used can be seen as follows:

I apologize for the poor lighting ... I hate night time lighting:

Pros:
Amazing pigmentation
Nice assortment to create different looks

Cons:
Produces a LOT of fall out. Apply shadow before concealer and foundation, this shadow was everywhere!

Rating:
4/5

What do you think of ELF products?

Face - L'oreal "For Light Eyes" Palette.

MAC Studio Fix N5 foundation
Erase Paste 1 concealer
L'oreal "For Light Eyes" palette in "Forest Light"
Rimmel Glameyes Professional liquid liner (black)
Revlon Kohl black liner
MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick
I actually like the palettes L'oreal designs for the different eye colors. Made my eyes pop!
***
I did some beauty shopping at Sephora this weekend also:

CLARINS Delcious Self Tanning Cream
I will do a review on this soon, as I used it last night. It smells so good and is the most luxurious self tanner I've ever used.

It looks and smells just like desert, and glides on the skin beautifully.

Benefit Scene Queen Annie Collection Makeup Palette

It has High Beam highlighter, a coral gloss and 4 nice shadows.

Lady Million eua de parfum by Paco Rabanne:

Who is Paco Rabanne? I've no clue, but his perfume is to die .. Smells so good. I spritzed it in the store and immediately fell in love =) He's right at home with the others:

AND .. I finally reached 500 points on my Beauty Insider card! Yay =) I've never gotten the smaller gifts, always saved up for the big ticket item. And here is what I got:

It's a Bare Escentuals Sample Kit with shimmering face powder, baby pink lip pluming gloss, black mascara and brush. Not bad for a free gift! I'm really liking the lipgloss =)

Hope your Monday is off to a good start .. as good as can be expected.
Let me know how your weekend was.

My Halloween Snow White Make-Up Look!

Once upon a time as a queen sits sewing at her window, she pricks her finger on her needle and three drops of blood fall on the snow that had fallen on her ebony window frame. As she looks at the blood on the snow, she says to herself, "Oh, how I wish that I had a daughter that had

Skin white as snow,
Lips red as a rose,
Hair black as ebony"...

With my fair skin and dark hair, I've been destined to be a Halloween Snow White my whole life.

I kept the rose red color the main theme throughout my Snow White look. Red nails and red lips to match the red of my costume.

Revlon Superlustrous lipstick in Scarlet, and Revlon Top Speed Nail polish in Cherry.

Nails:

Hair:
You may have noticed that my two toned ombre hair was gone. After all, I couldn't have dark blond ends if I wanted to channel Miss White properly.
Since I decided on Snow White as a costume over a month ago, I went through many ideas of how I would do my hair.
First I bought black spray. I thought it would work perfectly! Wrong. It just saturated my hair, and the color would rub off when I tried to style it.
Next I bought a black wig, but it was WAY too gothic for Snow White .. I looked like a witch.
Finally, while trolling the hair isles of Shoppers Drug Mart, I came across this:

Fanciful Temporary Hair Color in jo 13: Chocolate Kiss.

I was super happy with this stuff; it's so easy to use. After washing and towel drying my hair, I simply applied it and styled. And it shampoos right out. Easy!

So while my hair wasn't quite "black as ebony", it was blond free, and all over dark.

I loved being Snow White for Halloween this year, I had a lot of fun creating the look and channeling the Fairy Tale Princess for the night.
