The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) strongly urges Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to veto a bill moving rapidly through the state legislature that would make it a crime to be an undocumented immigrant in the state.
In addition to the absurdity of aligning undocumented status with state trespassing, the law also validates racial profiling as a legitimate law enforcement tool which is precisely the reason why individuals and businesses around the country are beginning to seriously question whether Arizona is a safe place to visit, live, or do business.
The bill also creates a private right of action for any person to sue a city, town, or county for not enforcing immigration laws to the full extent of federal law and it establishes civil penalties for the city, town, or county. This subjects local governments to unreasonable and potentially frivolous litigation by private citizens with an anti-immigrant agenda. Even if a municipality is vindicated in court, it will still have to incur the costs of defense.
The problems with this bill are monumental and the consequences will be devastating to the citizens of Arizona and the state's already fragile economy. At last glance, Arizona was in the throes of a massive budgetary crisis. Arizona's economy simply cannot afford to absorb the costly litigation that this ill-conceived legislation will certainly produce. Moreover it sets a bad example for other states to pass similar bills. Already other states like Ohio and Utah are entertaining similar legislation. Immigration is the domain of the federal government and it is a huge mistake for states to be involved.

I got approved H1-B notice on 30th Dec 2008 from CSC. My previous expired H1-B date ends with 02/14/2009, but my current newly approved one starts with 02/26/2009. So there is a gap of 11 days between those. Currently I'm on job. Does it really means out-of-status?. Do I need to run February pay check with less hours and officially in vacation?.
Please advice me.

Hello There,
I want to apply for my 3 yrs H extension using preminum processing. Can i do that by just using the email confirmation from USCIS that I-140 petition was approved? My 1-140 petition was approved in Dec,2006 and still have not recived my approval notice.

Sorry I could not find answer for this question on any of the threads here. can anyone please answer the question below
"Copy of visa page of passport in color " is listed as one of the supporting docs for ead renewal.(in the IV thread on EAD self filing)
Do I need to send the copy of visa stamp even if my stamp has expired and I am working on EAD? (my I-797/I-94 expired too).
Can someone please answer this as I need to apply for ead renewal soon.
I had the same question so i spoke to my lawyer/attorney
she said that it is not necessary
infact in intial eveidence
1) copy of passport or DL or Visa Page or some national Id with picture
2) color photos
3) copy of 485 recipt or EAD
She said most of the attornies/lawyers are asking for extra documentations so that to pre-empt RFEs but she asked me to file with intial evidence that is asked on the instruction form i.e the three items i mentioned above.
I filed with those if they require additional evidence i will comply.

EB3 (ROW)....PD: May 2006....
Received my REF last month then i sent my reply and they received it. Now everytime i checked the online status the Update Date in the online account is changing everyday for last couple of days. What does it mean? Is it a positive sign or not? kinda worried about the whole situation. Please let me know what you guys think or anyone get this kind of update or not?

My PD is 08/04/06, and my AP is expiring on June 2nd, I probably will have to travel sometimes June end. I am in a fix if I should go ahead and apply for Ap now. My PD will be current begining June 1st. I heard it may take 1 week to 60 days to get GC after your date becomes current, Do you guys think it's good idea to just apply for AP just in case?

Sorry to hear that....Mine is TSC and They receieved my Applications on Aug 13, 2007. But One of My friend Filed with NSC and They receieved his application on Aug 16, 2007. His Check got cleared couple of days before.

It is a part truthful. For easy explanation, I would say PD does not matter
for EAD/AP/FP /Namecheck all processes but it matters at teh final stage of 485 and that is approval. So say you pass through all processes and that time USCIS will see whether your PD is current or not. If it is current than you will get your approval soon and if not than your file will be out on a rack to wait for your PD becoming current.

I am getting married in December 2009. My wife already has a 10 year Visit visa to US. I am a student on F1 visa. Can I bring my wife on the visit visa (even if it is for a max. of 6 months)?
